Revised Claimed Score:
703 CW Qs X 2 = 1406 CW Pts
82 Ph Qs X 1 = 82 Ph Pts
1488 Pts X 84 mults = 124,992 Pts
Soapbox: As my trusty driving/operating partner W8AV said earlier, the
'test was a lot of fun. Plenty of activity, the bands were reasonably
quiet, no bad WX or thunder (as had been predicted). Even the roads were in
better condx (my truck still sports a large ding in the windshield from the
'01 MiQP). The recently refurbished Geotool rear stake pocket antenna
mounts did FB (all new SS hardware, replacing the salt-eaten, plated
hardware). No Hamsticks flew away due to low-flying bridges, trees, or gas
station canopies. Goose and I do question the lack of ground plane area
when operating from a pickup truck. (Perhaps that is K8MR's secret...the
square footage of his Aerostar minivan's roof.) The only downside to
rovering in the MiQP is what Goose and I call the 'protoplasm factor'. Your
vehicle and antennas acquire a thick coating of bug guts in no time at all.
Has anyone measure the atennuation factor of Michigan protoplasm?
Thanks to all who took part, especially those who hunted us from county to
county. The CW pileups were awesome, though hard to work down, because
almost all signals were essentially the same level.
Congrats to K8MR/m and W8DRZ for waxing us once again, but, sort of like the
Govenor of Caleeforneeuh used to say in the movies, "we'll be back".
For those that enjoy such trivia, here is some info gleaned from the 2004
