In an effort to attract more people to operate MiQP, the committee is
pleased to announce the formation of two new categories in which MI entries
can compete, and a significant expansion of the MiQP Awards program.

The new MiQP categories are:

Multi-Operator/Single-Transmitter - Multi-op stations operating only one
transmitter at a time. The current MiQP "Multi-Op" category becomes
Multi-Operator/Multi-Transmitter with no other changes in the rules. The
MiQP Plaque Program will be expanded to award a plaque for the top
multi-single as well as the top multi-multi entries.

Mobile/Solo-Operator - Mobile stations where one person does all the
operating, logging, driving and navigating. The current MiQP "Mobile"
category becomes Mobile/Multi-Operator with no other changes in the rules.
The MiQP Plaque Program will be expanded to award a plaque for the top
solo-operator as well as the top multi-operator mobile entries.

Changes To The MiQP Awards Program - Beginning in 2005 a certificate will
be awarded to the highest scoring single-op in each MI county, state, VE
province and DXCC county. A 50 QSO minimum will apply for in-state
certificates and a 25 QSO minimum will apply for
out-of-state. Certificates for "top in category" finishes for single-ops
will be discontinued, and "top in category" certificates for MI multi-ops
and mobiles will be limited to 2nd and 3rd place.

The changes are intended to increase recognition of MiQP achievement at a
more local level. At the same time, it increases the number of
certificates awarded. To illustrate the effect of these changes, under the
old criteria in 2004 the MiQP committee awarded 29 certificates while under
the new criteria 59 would have been awarded.

In addition to the new certificate criteria, the "Most MI Counties Worked"
competition will be expanded to consider MI entries as well as
out-of-state. Separate plaques will be awarded for the top "county chaser"
both in-state and out-of-state.

We hope you will find the changes to MiQP for 2005 appealing, and will
start making plans to participate on April 16, 2005!

73,

The MiQP Committee
