As usual, everyone thinks there are only two universities in Michigan
and forgets that Michigan Technological University exists. Probably
because we don't have a football team that anyone cares about. W8YY was
9YX when it was first set up on campus in a coal bin in the EE building
around the start of WWI. Known for deep snow, professional beer
drinking, and the hardiness of the UP population; MTU cranks out
engineers like Paris Island cranks out US Marines.

Enrollment 41,402 46,045 6,744
Engineering degrees 1,966 704 980

Go youse Huskies!

Anyone who knows ANYTHING of this Grate State of Michigan knows that MSU
Amateur Radio club call is W8SH. root at msuarc.egr.msu.edu :)

And, University of Michigan Radio Club is W8UM. w8um.info at umich.edu

BTW, W8YX is University of Cincinnati ARC - predates the use of "W"
prefix and for a while they had an experimental license in the early
20's.

Go Spartan! Go Blue! Go Bearcats!
