<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Tahoma">Well, I hope this is a trend that catches on with other EOC's throughout the state, but for right now, Oakland County will lead the way! Oakland Co. ARPSC will once again activate the EOC ham station for MiQP 2007. Hopefully, Mark, K8ED, will return again as the primary CW op, but with or without him, W8OAK will be on the air! </FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Tahoma">The county Emergency Management people like to see us operate the station for extended periods to ensure that it's "up to snuff" and can coexisting peacefully with the Sheriff's communications across the hall. MiQP has recently been added as our 3rd such event each year. The other two events are Field Day ( duh! ) and SKYWARN Recognition Day (first full weekend in December). Ask around at your local EmComm group and try to sell them on the idea that this is a good test of there system for communicating within ( and out of ) the state of Michigan. In Oakland County, we write MiQP off as our new yearly 'intra-state communications test'. :) Maybe someday EOC's will have their own category -- just a thought. </FONT></P>
