I've found a nice Township Park east of the city of Newaygo in Newaygo
County. <br>
<br>
Presuming the ARRL 1X1 coordinator grants the use of the call, I'll be
operating as N8Q during the upcoming Michigan QSO party, running <5
watts (QRP) so I don't drain my 100 AH deep cycle battery. This park
the <font>Dr. M. K. Conklin Park, is at about 700' AMSL, overlooks the
Muskegon River and a dam. It has two picnic shelters, and his &
her's outhouses, so it should be a "reasonable" site for the event.
The one minor negative is that it doesn't have electricity, and I sold
my "galloping goose" 110 VAC generator because of unreliability. That
means when my 12 volt battery runs out, my operating runs out. But,
with <2 amps average for QRP operation, it should last for 10 hours
or more.<br>
<br>
Please look for N8Q NEWA during the upcoming MiQP! And, I'd welcome
competition - it would be nice to have several fixed stations from that
county - according to the records there hasn't been a fixed station
from NEWA in the recorded past. :(<br>
