<DIV class=im><BR>I plan on operating solo mobile (mostly parked) in five
western counties of the UP: in order these are IRON, BARA, HOUG, ONTO, and GOGE.
I'll end up in the parking lot of the Lac Vieux Desert Casino at midnight :). I
have cut my counties down from nine to six in the last few years, and the drop
to five will give me yet more time on the radio and less on the road. I'll be
mostly on CW on 80, 40, and 20M but am planning on hunting MI county multipliers
on 40M and 75M SSB more so than in the past. That weak station calling you might
just be me from that needed county.... <BR><BR>Jim K8MR made an excellent
comment on fixed stations keeping the 'mobile windows' clear. I second the
motion and appreciate your efforts to do so!<BR><BR></DIV>IMHO, no one will ever
win the SO Mobile division from the UP (at least I won't). The low number of
counties (large areas) and the relative lack of good interconnecting roads are
limiting factors. Those nice-looking 'highways' on some of the atlas maps are
often no more than forest trails, so we who drive these counties find our
options limited. OTOH, the beauty of this part of MI is outstanding, and I go
there to do some quick sight-seeing as well as fun, low-keyed (no pun intended)
