Yup, and there's Grand Valley State University in Allendale (W8GVU),
Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Central Michigan University
in Mount Pleasant, Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan University,
Ferris State University, and, which State Universities in Michigan have
I missed?<br>

The two "Big Ten" are MSU and UM, but we should not forget the others.
Around here there is seemingly a "host" of private colleges, I'm most
familiar with Hope College in Holland and Calvin College in Grand
Rapids because of a professional affiliation with some of the
professors there.<br>

I haven't run across an Amateur Radio Club in any of the Universities
mentioned above, W8GVU helped with Field Day a couple years ago, but I
haven't heard much about them since. Is W8YY active? If so, encourage
them to get on during MiQP 2011! Shucky durn, back in the 70's and
early 80's W8UM and W8SH would have knock down drag out contests within
a contest for "bragging rights" for their respective stations. And,
there was a fellow who lived in Hell, yes, Hell, K2SIL/8 I think was
his call, who ran high level traffic on the 8th Region and Eastern Area
nets. He sometimes ran the nets from W8UM when he got caught in Ann
Arbor at net times.<br>

BTW, W8YX is University of Cincinnati ARC - predates the use of "W"
prefix and for a while they had an experimental license in the early
