I would hope the MiQP contest manger(s) would comment and post a
decision in this regard, i.e., yea / nae regarding using a local
database as an operating aide. As I review the rules, it says if
spotting is used, this moves the entrant into the multi-operator
category. So that tool is not banned, it's just limited.<br>
<br>
Many QSO Parties (Minnesota in particular) encourage using
spotting for everyone. We believe this, among other adjustments
in the rules, is helping grow the activity in our event. My view
is our event is a "Party", i.e. to encourage people to get
together at one time and location and have fun! Limiting how the
fun can be achieved goes against the goals of a "Party."<br>

If using the MiQP Operating Aide is deemed unacceptable, I will
remove it from my website.<br>

But, if your tools would help folks make a "clean sweep" this
might be a milestone. I recent years at least, I don't remember
anyone making contact with all 83 counties we have in Michigan.
Maybe 81 or 82. Of course my memory may be failing, since onset
of Alzheimer's or other dementia is imminent at my age, so a clean
sweep may have already been made. I do know that some state QSO
Parties encourage their mobiles to use APRS spotting, and have
aids to show the actual locations of the mobiles as they traverse
their routes. We in Michigan seem to be Luddites in this respect,
but who am I to say?<br>

I'll be pounding the brass (presuming my left foot is still
functioning on the 18th) and croaking at that funny thing called a
microphone (if I can find it amongst the other seldom used
accessories in the shack) on April 18. I'll be using the special
event call N8F, in honor of Fisk Knob,the highest point in KENT
county, from which I hope to operate.<br>

As of a few minutes ago, here is a summary I have collected
from the activity reports posted... <br>

Of the 83 Michigan counties, 38 of them have been posted. 7 of
those counties will enjoy two "visits", whether by a Fixed
station or a Mobile station. There are no counties with 3
visits, and as it stands right now, 45 of the 83 have no
commitments.<br>
<br>
The value of the workbook is helping achieve a county sweep.
You can also track the mobile operators during the contest
period. It predicts the approximate "activation time" and
"duration of visit" for each county they will visit. For
example, if you have not worked Schoolcraft county, you will
know when to expect KK9K/m to arrive and the window of
opportunity to find and work him.<br>
<br>
I gather the source information from this reflector and any
messages sent direct to me. I have 3 mobile routes entered
right now. More stations and mobile plans would enhance the
effectiveness of helping participants log a Michigan county
sweep. It's not too late to provide information.<br>
