Well !!
I don't know what to say, things seemed weird and I could never figure out
what band to be on. 80M was a real baffling question, I could never find
anyone to work or run. I tried CQing but it was futile.
The southern counties were never heard. LIVI and MONO were missed. N8SL
(OAKL) was loud so the propagation was there. 40M was weird, at the start
it went long, WY was third Q, and then later it shortened up to be very
useful. 20 was great to the west coast and EU, fun for the portable
operator.
Up in the north woods, without any internet, makes a good guessing game.
It was a family affair, so operating was limited to what the wife and
grandkids could endure.
The totals:
203 x 84 = 27972
BAND Q's MULTS
80CW 4 1
80SSB 6 5
40CW 66 28
40SSB 66 33
20CW 49 15
15CW 11 1
15SSB 1 1
I took any move requested for the fun of it.
Oh, Murphy was present in northern MI. My Heil adapter for the radio died
and I was forced to use a hand mike for all SSB contacts. Ever try talking
and typing with a mic in you dominate hand? Also, when I first put the
station together, the PS would show 12V out but nothing would come to life.
Taking things apart and putting them back together one by one solved the
problem but it was never fixed.
WX was windy, 40 mph, and rain so any outside activity was limited. Woke up
Sunday to snow and freezing rain. I had the Carolina Windom up 50 feet at
the center and I was happy with the way it performed.
Will I do it again, you bet. Now I need to go back up there and extract the
log files to submit. I forgot the memory stick for my 98SE machine.

PS: If you need IOSCO county, just send a QSL, no SASE required. All Q's
will be uploaded to LoTW.
